What is Vitamin B17? Does it exist?
Vitamins and minerals are important building blocks of our body. They assist in proper functioning and make sure that all organs and tissues function as intended.
To answer the question whether vitamin B 17 exists and whether it is indeed a cancer cure, we did some research. However, we have got contradictory reports. Most doctors are of the opinion that cancer is too complex a disease to be cure by taking vitamins. In fact; many believe that vitamin B17 does not exist and that the Vitamin B series ends at Vitamin B12. B17 is nothing but amygdalin or Laetrile. Human body does not synthesize it and it is only found in certain food stuff including plants, beans etc. (We will shortly discuss some important vitamin b17 rich food.)
However, there are some scientists and members of the medical community who believe that Vitamin B17 is found in cyanide containing foods. Miraculously, this vitamin gives up its cyanide content when it comes in the presence of beta glucosidase which is present in cancer cells. The healthy or non-cancer cells do not contain these enzymes and, resultantly, are protected from cyanide. This possibility, they say, could make vitamin b17 an important arsenal in mankind’s fight against cancer. Many people also feel that amygdalin has anti-carcinogenic and anti-mutagenic properties which could prevent, if not treat, certain kinds of cancer.
Vitamin B17 cancer cure: Hoax or Truth?
Some practitioners do use Vitamin B17 or Amygdalin (sold as Laetrile) for cancer treatment. However, the FDA has not approved this vitamin for commercial use making it illegal. Laetrile tablets are often smuggled into the US from countries such as Mexico. Opponents feel that this banned vitamin is a toxin which could harm people. Resultantly, they caution against its use and strongly believe that vitamin B17 cancer cure is a hoax. A lot of research is needed to determine the truth. Proponents of vitamin b17 cancer theory however believe that hiding this information from the public is all a part of a conspiracy theory that pharmaceutical companies use to rake in massive profits from sale of expensive chemotherapy and other cancer drugs.
Vitamin b17 rich foods
- Apricots and apricot seeds- These contain the highest amount of amygdalin which is why it is used for making Laetrile medicine for cancer. It contains nearly 80,000 ppm of vitamin B17.
- Apple seeds– Apple seeds contain nearly 6000 to 13800 ppm of this vitamin.
- Millet– Millet is one of the best grains for fighting cancer. It is rich in vitamin B17 as well as vitamin B15 or pangamic acid. Both these B vitamins are not well known and millet is filled with them. Make this friendly grain a part of your diet in place of white rice.
- Other sources– Laetrile is found in most fruits, leafy green vegetables, beans, buckwheat, peas, turnip, nuts, alfalfa powder, barley, sprouted wheat. The highest source however is apricot kernels.

Edward Griffin, in his book, lists down the B17 vitamin side effects as follows:
- Weight gain
- Increased appetite
- Lowered blood pressure

- Increase in Hemoglobin

As can be seen, these side effects may actually be beneficial to cancer patients.
Vitamin B17 cancer cure testimonials suggest that there might be some truth that this vitamin can cure or at least prevent tumors. Many people who took vitamin B17 regularly actually had their operations and conventional treatments cancelled since the tumors had shrunk. Their doctors were pleasantly surprised but since the drug is not approved in United States, most people remain in the dark about this healing vitamin. One must note that cancer is a mutation of cells and that it is a blanket term used for as many as 100 types of tumors. So, if you plan on taking vitamin B17, make sure you run this by your oncologist first. We can only hope that more research will one day help mankind eliminate cancer once and for all.
